Questions people ask

Is the DomainToolBelt MCP server free?

Yes. It works without a key or sign-in: list answers show the top 3 rows with the total count and a link to the full list, and each address can make 50 calls a day (10 a minute), the same as a free key. A free API key gives 1,000 credits a month (1 credit a call, 5 for domain status, summary, history and sales).

What data does it have?

Reported domain sales with price, date and venue; live domain auctions with bids and end times; domains heading toward deletion and their phase; trending keywords in new registrations; the last known status of a name; and our stored value estimates.

How fresh is the data?

Auctions refresh about every 30 minutes and aftermarket prices about every 15 minutes. Sales appear once confirmed, usually within two days. Status answers are the last known state, not a live check, and every answer carries an as-of time.

What are the limits?

Without a key: 50 calls a day and 10 a minute per address, 3 rows per list and up to 3 names per status call. With a key, your plan's monthly allowance applies. The limits page lists every number.

Do you store the names I ask about?

No. Names asked about through the MCP server or the API are never stored and never shown anywhere, the same rule as the site.

Which clients work?

Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and any client that speaks Streamable HTTP. Paste the server address; no sign-in is needed.

Machine-readable: server card, openapi.json, llms.txt.
